Cub Scout Leaders - Here's how to be "In The Know" for this fall! Learn all about school nights at the May Roundtable - Thursday, May 14th at the Ball State University Alumni Center (2800 W Bethel Ave, Muncie, IN 47304) - 6:30 p.m. gathering, program starts at 7:00.
Join us for an evening full of fun and information, and get your official School Night Training (NOTE - we are doing it in May instead of in August this year). Talk with other leaders, and get the most up-to-date information on the changes to School Nights this year. Information will be available for all leaders in all units, all programs, so come prepared to do some learning!
Join Cub Scouts! Saturday, May 30! Boys in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade are invited to attend the annual Spring Fishing Derby! Saturday, May 30, 2015 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.at Mansfield Park (2801 Eaton Avenue, Muncie IN)
Activities include:
> Go Fishing! Please bring your own equipment if you have it - we have a limited supply of poles to borrow.
> Light lunch will be provided free.
> Attend a fishing seminar.
> Prize for NEW scouts for the 1st Fish Caught, Largest Fish Caught, and the Most Fish Caught!
> Receive an official CUB SCOUT belt loop at the completion of your first scouting activity!
Attendance includes membership in the Boy Scouts of America from June through December, 2015.
Opportunities are also available to attend Red Wing Day Camp for 2 days (June 17-18) or the full week of Day Camp (June 15 - 19) at a reduced rate! Check the back of your flier for more details.
REMIDER--IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP FOR SCOUT SUMMER CAMP! Reservations can be found at the Crossroads of America website, use the dropdown at the Camping link and select the type of program you want. The Earlybird payment deadline for all Boy Scout summer camps is May 1.
Boy Scouts - Spring Camporee is right around the corner!
April 24 - 26 Join us for Spring Camporee. This will be the real deal, with the ability to earn the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge (and a chance for adults to learn how to be a Wilderness Survival Merit Badge Counselor). This will be a full weekend of survival skills and is sure to be one to remember. The first 90 participants can purchase a fanny pack. Cost is $10.00 per person ($9.00 per person if you register by April 1st). Get the flier here, and register at the Muncie Scout Service Center. Remember, early bird fees are until April 1st.
Boy Scout Summer Camp Sign ups for 2016 will be live on May 1 and will all be online this year (Ransburg May 15) - watch your email for information!
The Muncie Scout Office will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
CUB SCOUTS - It's never too late to join!
Cub Scouts is for you if you like to have fun and do things with your friends. We are gearing up for great programs at the Unity Center and the Boys and Girls Club. You can always join a pack at your school or call us to find a pack near you. For more information on Scouting at your school, or if you want to join, contact the Muncie Scout Service center at 288-0223 for information on a unit near you.
New Cub Scout Adventure - Starting in 2015!
Check out the changes in store for Cub Scout advancement and increased programming - starting in 2015. Read about it in this document. Trainings will be scheduled before fall program starts, so check with us often to learn all about the new Cub Scout Adventures.
Roundtable - Join us for fun, fellowship, information and education the second Thursday of each month at the Riverside United Methodist Church in Muncie. Gathering starts at 6:30, programming starts at 7:00. Walk away with new ideas and meet others who have walked in your shoes! This is a monthly "must do" event to add to your calendar!
Training - Who needs it?
Get Trained Here! Scout leaders do!! It's never too late to get trained. It makes your job easier, you get to share ideas and problems with other leaders trying to do the same things you are doing and experiencing the same problems that you do. No matter what program you are registered in, training will make your job easier and your experience better. Call the Muncie Scout office for information on when you can be trained. YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING MUST BE UPDATED EVERY TWO YEARS! As a matter of fact, new leaders are required to take Youth protection training when they register - our Council does not want untrained leaders registered.

Or take the online survey to find out what fields might best suit you.Current Posts are hosted at IU Health Muncie and Ivy Tech College (Robotics post Phyxt Gears). This is a great way to learn about careers, talk with lots of professionals, and sometimes get some great hands on experience! Discover what career path really interests you. While many of you have already done this, every unit should turn in a JTE scorecard. Many of you have questions about the JTE (Journey To Excellence) form. The Scout Office can help you get the numbers you will need to complete this form and determine how you rank for the Journey To Excellence. Golden Eagle District With nearly 70 units in our district, membership in Golden Eagle is the fourth largest in the Crossroads of America Council in Indiana. We are fortunate to have both a Scout Office and a Scout camp, Camp Redwing, in our district. Committed adult leaders continue to make the Boy Scout program a strong one in this part of the state, promoting leadership, character building, physical and mental strength, and by encouraging continued parental involvement.
